Three Cheers For the Nanny State
Aidan Southwick
In the case of this article’s perspective, government intervention is absolutely necessary at times because it may keep Americans from acting foolishly even if acting foolish makes them happy. I don’t disagree that there should be some government intervention at certain times, but I do think that the government intervenes too often. One of the points that the article brought up is that a bunch of fat ass Americans drink too much god damn soda. The government intervened because they were concerned about citizen’s health so they made it harder to get large volumes of soda. Or, the government wanted to pull more profit out of the soda industry, but that’s just my theory.
Often times I see too much intervention from the government. For example, the I.R.S.
Not only is it stressful and seemingly unnecessary for the I.R.S. to search your records, but they can also legally come into your home and search your computer and filing cabinets just to find that you claimed your car as a company vehicle so that you could get a tax write off. Bullshit.
