In the democratic debates yesterday, several points were made by a few candidates, some true some false, but one point that stood out to me was when Bernie sanders said that he protected gun manufacturers from lawsuits. This is not true. Sander's previously stated that he protected manufacturers from lawsuits, though when Anderson Cooper questioned him repeatedly, he said, "of course not." This makes me question who is running to be the president of the U.S. since a handful of the candidates are dishonest right out of the starting gate. Another candidate that is well known with dishonesty on her record is Hillary Clinton. In the debate, she stated that she hoped that the TPP would be the gold standard, though at the time she supposedly said this, what she actually stated was that the TPP set the gold standard. She also said that the TPP deal changed after she left office which is also untrue because in fact, the deal had changed in the past three years.
In my opinion, the winner of this debate is the Candidate that displayed the most honesty which, would be hard for me say, though from my stand point, the losers were Hillary Clinton and Bernie sanders with the most untrue statements scored in the debate. To me, I don't care who talks the most, makes the most compelling points, or leads the debate. If they try to lie to the American people, they're losers in my book.
Several things that the Democratic debate and the republican debate have in common is the similarity that they all want to dominate the debate, they're all at least a little rude while contradicting each other, and both parties lie about their history. One thing that is different about these debates is that, since these debates are composed of either entirely democrats or entirely republicans, the issues that are prevalent in the debate are completely different.
One quote that I enjoyed from this debate was when Lincoln Chafee said, "So any time someone is running to be our leader, and a world leader, which the American president is, credibility is an issue out there with the world. And we have repair work to be done. I think we need someone that has the best in ethical standards as our next president. That's how I feel." I especially enjoy the irony of this quote because Lincoln Chafee during the debate stated that we trained and equipped Syrian rebels, who then defected to opposing groups. This statement was 100 percent not true. This doesn't fit my definition of ethical standards and it doesn't sound like Chafee practices what he preaches.

I'm not heavy into politics, though I can take a guess on what Chappatte intended when he made this political cartoon. In the image the camera man is saying "move to your left" and not meaning to the viewer's left, he means to Hillary's left. This may mean that the other candidates or the camera man want her out of the running. This symbolism also could mean that in stepping to her left, she would become more liberal which I have a hard time connecting as to why this would be an important part of the point that Chappatte is trying to convey. It may imply that liberals aren't as valued in democratic debates or campaigns as candidates that lean more to the right.
